About the Artist
Hello, I’m Naomi!
I’m currently a Fine Art student, studying at Loughborough University.
My work is an invitation to step into a world where the boundaries between reality and imagination blur; demonstrating how the past is ever-present with remembering becoming a transformative experience.

My Practice
My artistic practice is a dive into the realm of surrealist euphoria, where I reconstruct personal nostalgia though vibrant, immersive environments. By creating hyper-saturated dioramas and installations, adorned with warped furniture and personified walls, my practice functions as an active vessel for preserving memories. These pieces are not mere recreations, but portals designed to transport viewers into a physical manifestation of my own nostalgic experiences.

I draw heavily on the 2000s era, with its aesthetic lending vivacity, whilst myself implementing elements of comfort and familiarity to construct uncanny, psychedelic spaces. Serving as a retreat, this environment provides an escape into a blending of the real with surreal, to re-experience childlike memories. Freedom within an otherworldly environment imposes childlike curiosity on the viewer; this, with a departure from reality is what I aim to achieve.

My approach is physically multi-faceted, combining sculpture, collage, moving image and performance. This theatrical approach maximised the viewers sensory experience, interacting with a multitude of media. Parallel is the use of childlike craft (googly eyes, glitter, felt, pipe cleaners and neon paint), a deliberate choice to engage viewers on a tactile level through juvenile play.
As the main subject within my videos, I use performance to exaggerate the jolting movements of a child controlling a doll within its house during play. With an unpolished editing style to enforce this alongside freehand doodles.
